For the past few days I have been wondering about this fascination with having the following in your title (or some variation of it):
- "The first _____",
- "India's first _____",
- "The only ____ ",
- "India's youngest ____"
These are not large corporations, not even small companies. These are all individuals who, in one form or another are freelancers or in other words have their own practice in their area of expertise.
Before anyone points it out to me - Let me admit that I, too have been guilty of using such tactics back in 2014/2015.
And since then I have seen it catching on and spreading like wild fire..
But after about 8 years since that time.. I now find it quite amusing and to be blunt, quite useless, pointless and nothing more than dramatic theatrics, when it comes to robust business practices.
Just imagine, anyone can put anything and make it sound special.. Like for example, if I were to do this today, I could put something like this :
"The only NLP trainer who puts out his videos of doing the planks for over 6 minutes"
AND
"The only NLP trainer who is willing to call out the BS of stupid branding practices even if it is his own"
AND
"The only NLP trainer who has 2 ONLY's in his marketing tag line ... oops make that 3 now..."
Come on folks - get real... Who do you think is getting impressed by your "FIRST" & "ONLY" tags in your marketing tagline???
Focus on building a robust business. That is what will give you much more returns than such short term - shock & awe tactics.
